Model

A model is an instance of a metamodel. It contains instances of metatypes.

A model can be loaded from various sources. MDWorkbench supports natively the XMI format (http://www.omg.org/technology/documents/formal/xmi.htm). You can add your own model connector to connect a metamodel to an external modeling source. Using open APIs, you can for example :

• read a proprietary file format,
• connect to a database,
• use COM APIs to query a modeling tool,
• etc.
