From the page, Consulting a resource, a button lets you graphically explore the links in the resource.
In display options, the graph layout can be changed between:
The graph displays a main node representing the resource to be explored. The graph then displays a node for each resource linked to the main resource, with an arc between each pair of nodes to materialize the link.
An arc between two nodes represents the fact that there are one or more links between the two resources. Links can be modeling links, collaborative links, or custom links. A drop-down menu at the top right of the graph allows filtering the types of links taken into account in the calculation of the graph.
The graph automatically calculates the positions of the nodes so as to limit the overlapping of nodes and arcs. The nodes can be moved manually by drag n’ drop. The graph will then seek to further limit the overlap of graphic shapes.
A double click on a node makes it possible to ask to explore the links of the resource represented by the node and therefore to extend the graph. A second double-click on the same node reduces the graph by no longer displaying the links of the resource. You can therefore recursively browse the links between resources.
The graph displays a first column with a single node, representing the resource to explore. The second column contains 1 node for each resource linked to the main resource, with an arc between each pair of nodes to materialize their link. Resources are grouped by domain.
In display options, one can choose to automatically focus on a node when it gets expanded, or to disable automatic focus.
An arc between 2 nodes means that 1 or several links exist between 2 resources. Links can be authoring tool relationships, collaboration links, or custom links. The display options can be used to filter which type of links should be accounted for in the graph.
Double clicking on a node will open its linked resources in the next column.
Double clicking on an already opened node will collapse it and no longer display its linked resources.
In the hierarchical graph, it is possible for the same resource to be displayed in several columns.
Indeed, when recursively exploring links, new columns are always added to the right of the graph.
Exploring a resource will never create an arc to a resource node that was already displayed.
Selecting a node displays the properties of the corresponding resource in the right-hand area: its properties, links, and comments.
Selecting an arc displays the list of links represented by this arc.
Moving the mouse over a node displays a toolbar that allows you to:
You can zoom in or out in the graph using the mouse wheel.
Note that a button on the toolbar can be used to hide the box on the right side of the page. This function is especially useful in case you want to save space to display a graph with many nodes.
