Configuring Context Parameters

Some context parameters need to be set in the Web Servlet Manager for the adapter to work correctly. The procedure to set a context parameter depends on the chosen application server. Refer to the section specific to the chosen application server for guidance.

The valid attributes for each Parameter element are as follows, the values shown as strings are only examples and must be modified for the actual network configuration in place:

Attribute Description
name The name of the context initialization parameter to be created.
value The parameter value that will be presented to the application.
description Optional, human-readable description of this context initialization parameter.

List of Context Parameters

Attribute Description Note
name oslc-windchill.windchill.server
value Enter the URL of the server on which Windchill is installed. Example: "http://windchill.acme.com/"
description URL of the Windchill web server to which the Adapter must connect to.
note This attribute must be present.
Attribute Description Note
name oslc-windchill.storage.location
value Choose your own parameter value.
description Location in the local file system of a folder where the adapter will store the files it uses. The folder needs to exist before the Adapter is started.
note This attribute must be present.
Attribute Description Note
name antiResourceLocking
value true
description Allows Tomcat to automatically undeploy and re-deploy the WAR file.
note This optional attribute is recommended to ease un-deploying and re-deploying instances of the WAR. You may elect not to use it if you are competent at manual administration of Tomcat and its servlets.
Attribute Description Note
name antiJarLocking
value true
description Allows Tomcat to automatically undeploy and re-deploy the WAR file.
note This optional attribute is recommended to ease un-deploying and re-deploying instances of the WAR. You may elect not to use it if you are competent at manual administration of Tomcat and its servlets.

Note 1: When WebSphere is used, the value for the adapter parameters oslc-windchill.storage.location can be written as a local file system path notation but for coherence it is preferred that to use the File URL notation (e.g., file:///c:/myFolder/myFile). To avoid problems, do not use spaces in file paths.

Note 2 : It is highly recommended to specify absolute locations for oslc-windchill.storage.location. These should be outside the web application container folders. This will facilitate any future updates of the adapter and avoid losing the adapter files on deployment.

Note 3: It is recommended that the Tomcat or WAS server is restarted when context parameters are modified.
