Configuring Java Settings

Windchill™ web pages use Java™ applets. Security restrictions in Java prevent using applets in unsigned contexts. Below are tips to work with Windchill applets.

Checking your Java Runtime Environment

It is recommended to install the latest and up to date version of Java Runtime Environment that is supported by PTC Windchill.

Changing Java Security Exceptions

While attempting to use Windchill’s user interface to administer changes to its schema, before arriving at the Windchill Manage Global Attributes page, you may be challenged by Java’s different security settings. They may not appear in the same order as presented here depending on your configuration.

  1. Go to the Windows Control Panel > Java and click Security > Edit Site List...
  2. Add “http://windchill.acme.com/Windchill” as an exception in the list
  3. Set security level to Medium
