Creating a link to an existing Windchill artifact

Continuing with the steps defined on the parent topic...

  1. Select the option to create the link over an existing artifact.
  2. An artifact search dialog will be displayed [1]. You can search an artifact by the fields name/number (“*” value accepted to list all items) and pressing the Search button.

  3. You can select then one or more items in the result list.

  4. To confirm your selection, click on the OK button at the bottom of the page.

If everything went as planned, the dialog will be closed and you will see the new link(s) created on the links section.

[1] As long as the OSLC Connect for Windchill license is still valid.Otherwise you will see this message: OSLC Connect for Windchill license is not granted: followed by the specific license issue message. If this is the case, please contact the Windchill server administrator.

Global Configurations Compatibility

Windchill Change Management artifacts

When the OSLC Remote Application is Configuration Management enabled and using a Global Configuration (GC), an additional check-box will be displayed (checked by default) when selecting Windchill Change Management artifacts. This check-box label is: Show only artifacts related to the current Global Configuration and as its name says, allows to show only those Change Management artifacts which are associated to the GC being used [1] in the OSLC Remote Application. It is highly recommended you keep this check-box as checked so can only link to "compatible" Change Management artifacts [2].

Windchill Parts

When the OSLC Remote Application is Configuration Management enabled and using a Global Configuration (GC), only the Parts that belong to the selected GC will be displayed in the selection dialog.

[1] The compatible GC association (either Found in global configuration or Planned for global configuration association) for the Change Management artifact is determined by the Collaboration Link type being created. [2] All artifacts can be selected for linking; however, selecting an artifact which is not related with the GC used will cause a broken/wrong backlink in Windchill.
