Displaying the Collaboration Links field

Many things can lead you cannot see the Collaboration Links field on the Jira screens. Following the default configuration provided on this guide, this field should be displayed below the Labels field on the issue pages, if this is not the case, let's go through the next approaches to find a solution:

  1. Making sure you got a green status for the Collaboration Links field on the Status page.

The first thing we need to achieve is a green status for the Collaboration Links field in the Status page, please refer to the Monitoring the Configuration section to know how to enter this page. The next table summarizes what error messages can be displayed for this field and what can you do to address them.

Error Message Solution Hint
The Collaboration Links field is not configured. You need to complete the 1-9 steps of the Configuring the Collaboration Links field procedure.
No screens were configured to display the Collaboration Links field. You need to complete the 10-11 steps of the Configuring the Collaboration Links field procedure.
The Collaboration Links field has not been configured with the required default value: {} You need to complete the 12-16 steps of the Configuring the Collaboration Links field procedure.
The Collaboration Links field has been configured with a wrong default value (xxx), make sure it is configured with "{}" as default value. Follow the link provided in the message below this error message to change the default value (xxx in this example), to correspond with the required one: {}. Quotes are not part of the default value.
  1. Making sure you selected the correct screen(s) for displaying the Collaboration Links field.

If you currently have a green status for the Collaboration Links field in the Status page, and still cannot visualize it on the issue screens, let's make sure you have selected the correct screens to display it.

  1. Locate and click on the JIRA ADMINISTRATION (gear) icon at the top-right corner.
  2. Click on the Issues option.
  3. Provide the admin credentials again if requested.
  4. Locate and click the Custom fields option on the left panel under the FIELDS section.
  5. On the Custom fields table, locate the field of type (2nd column) Collaboration Links.
  6. Check the value of the 4th column (Screens), there should be at least two screens configured:

If the above is not the case...

  1. Click on the gear icon at the end of the row corresponding to the Collaboration Links field.
  2. Select the Screens option.
  3. On the next page, choose the required screens by checking them Select.
  4. Click on the Update button.
  1. Creating a link from SECollab in existing issues.

If last approaches didn't work, and you're trying to see the Collaboration Links field on an existing issue, you must recall that the default value you configured will be applied only for the new issues you create, all existing issues won't have a default value for the Collaboration Links field and Jira hides all custom fields without a value by default. Having said that, the only thing you need to do is to create a link from the Remote OSLC Application. You can follow the steps described in the Managing Collaboration Links from the Remote OSLC Application topic of the user guide in case your Remote OSLC Application is SECollab.

  1. Finding the Collaboration Links field.

If none of the above approaches have worked, it is time to ask Jira where is the field.

  1. On the Issue page you expect to see the Collaboration Links field, look up for the Admin button just below the Issue name.
  2. Click the Admin button and select the Where is my field? option.
  3. On the opened dialog, type or expand the combo to select the name of the field you're looking for. This name must be "Collaboration Links" only if you followed the recommendation to give such name to the field when configuring it, otherwise you need to provide the custom name you have chosen.
  4. Follow the instructions provided by Jira to find and display the Collaboration Links field.
  1. Contacting a support representative.

The last resource, if nothing has worked, is to contact a support representative.
