Linking to an existing Jira work item

Continuing here with the steps defined on the parent topic

  1. Select the option to create the link over an existing artifact.
  2. Search for work items by typing a key or summary and clicking Search.
  3. A maximum of 50 work items will be displayed. Refine your search criteria if the work item you are looking for is not present in the list.
  4. Select the work items that must be used as link target.

If everything went as planned, the dialog will be closed and you will see the new link created on the links section.

Global Configurations Compatibility

When the OSLC Remote Application is Configuration Management enabled and it is using a Global Configuration (GC), an additional Show only work items related to the current Global Configuration checkbox is displayed. This option, enabled as a default, filters out work items not associated with the GC in this searching view, to retain only the ones that can be safely linked in that context.

You may choose to unselect this option, if needed, but be warned that can lead to creating links that are not consistent with the global configuration and that may no longer be discovered later on. The Key column shows a warning if the selected work item is not associated with the GC. Hovering the warning image shows a tooltip detailing the problem. If you choose to create a link to such work item, you should coordinate with the GC owner to reference the necessary Jira release in that GC.
