If you interact with a DOORS client opened by a user (i.e. a non-batch client) and if a modal dialog is open in the active DOORS client, it may happen that DOORS silently ignores the execution requests of MDAccess for DOORS. In this case, MDAccess cannot read nor update data in DOORS. Note that not all DOORS modal dialogs produce this unexpected behavior. Still, recommendation is to close dialogs in DOORS by the time you execute MDAccess for DOORS.
