Sharing your traceability model

SECollab allows to share your Traceability model through:

• Creating a template of the current traceability model known as a component template
• Exporting a component template to a zip file to share it on a different SECollab instance
• Applying a component template to the current configuration

A component template holds some of the active configuration setup details, such as:

• the designs tree
• the resource types
• the link type (enabled / disabled standard link types as well as any collaborative links)
• the queries
• the report templates
• the BIRT reports
• the review templates
• the resource attributes

Component templates are shared across a given SECollab deployment. This allows to easily share the setup with other projects and / or configurations altogether limiting the time spent on administrative tasks

Creating a component template

To create a component template, go the Project Administration "Component templates" section, then click "Create a new template".
This will create a new template ready to be saved. Set the proper title and description, select which parts of your configuration setup you want to include then click "Submit" to save it.

Exporting a component template

To export a component template, go the Project Administration "Component templates" section. Hover the Component template you wish to export, then click the export icon (titled "Export a template") among the actions that appear when hovering.
This will create an activity. The activity result will be the component template's zip file, which you can download by clicking on the activity's title.

Applying a component template

To apply a component template, go the Project Administration "Component templates" section. Click the template you are interested in, and click "Apply the template". Then confirm you understand that this will overwrite your current configuration's setup with the content of the template. Only the elements included in the template will be erased.
