Deployment types

There are 2 types of deployments (with variations) for Neo4j:

• A single Neo4j database ("single database deployment").
• A Neo4j cluster consisting of at least 3 servers ("causal cluster deployment"):
  • cluster composed only of CORE servers that allow synchronization and consistency of data.
  • cluster consisting of CORE and READ-ONLY servers that allow scalability of reads.

For SECollab, we recommend installing a Neo4j cluster of at least 3 CORE servers to benefit from the many advantages of this type of installation, including:

• Fault Tolerance
• Data consistency
• Scalability and distribution of reading operations.

In the remainder of this document, we will explain the installation and configuration of a single database and a cluster of 3 CORE Neo4j servers.
