Weighted Objectives

A Weighted Objective describes one facet of the study, for example, the material used for a system component. These are typically modelled on Weighted Objectives Diagrams which are a new term based on Object Model Diagram. If you are using a profile that hijacks the Add New menus, create a compatible diagram (for example a Block Definition Diagram) and use Change To.

MOEs

Weighted Objectives encapsulate the assessment criteria, that is the factors used to compare one alternative against another. These are modelled as Measures of Effectiveness (MOEs) and captured as attributes on the Weighted Objectives. Each MOE is assigned a weight to indicate its relative importance, and the weights for all MOEs under a given objective must sum to exactly 1. This requirement ensures that stakeholders reach a clear, shared agreement on which criteria matter most and which carry less priority. MOEs and their weights may be created / modified using the Weighted Objective Editor.

Alternatives

Potential candidates to Weighted Objectives are modelled as Alternatives which inherit from Weighted Objectives. Multiple inheritance may be used for clarity (only the leaf Alternatives are used in the study). Alternatives may be combined into Solutions to perform a study using Generate Weighted Objectives Table.
